Tomorrow morning, Wednesday, May 15, 2013 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., the west parallel Runway 1L-19R will be closed for maintenance (friction testing). And again on Thursday, May 16, 2013, from 7:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., Runway 1L-19R will be closed for mowing, painting and pavement inspection. During these closure time periods all traffic will be assigned the east parallel ‘noise sensitive’ Runway 1R-19L for departures and arrivals.
During the lengthy closure on Thursday, the winds are forecast to favour a South Flow operation, therefore, residents south and northeast of the airport will experience an increase in noise due to the entire shift of aircraft operations onto Runway 1R-19L.
The Aviation Authority sincerely apologizes for the disruption in our neighbors’ quality of life and every effort will be taken to reopen the west runway after the immediate conclusion of work.
