Sunpass Offers New Payment Option for Airport Parking

Sunpass customers now have another option to pay for airport parking—SunPass. The SunPass option, available both at the main terminal garages and economy parking, requires the account to be designated SunPass Plus. SunPass Plus accounts are set up to be automatically replenished through a credit card or bank account –and will be charged in an immediate transaction as the driver exits the garage. If an email address is attached to the account, the SunPass owner will receive an electronic parking receipt. Interested in using SunPass for your next airport visit? Stimulus Funds Help Airport “Get to Work”

Artist’s rendering of the Taxiway B Reconstruction and Bridge Project
In March 2009, U.S. Representative Kathy Castor (Florida’s 11th Congressional District) announced that Tampa International Airport would be receiving $8 million of the $787 billion federal stimulus package, also known as the 2009 American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. The idea behind the stimulus funds was to green light projects that would not have otherwise been funded and get people back to work sooner rather than later. At TPA, the money will be used to help fund the construction of an elevated taxiway and bridge project. The project officially broke ground in July and is scheduled for completion in Fall 2010.

First Airport Sidewalk Sale Shows Off Shopping Options

On Friday, August 7, airport patrons were treated to a shopping experience not typically associated with an airport—a sidewalk sale. Shops including Ron Jon Surf Shop, Florida Market and Wilsons Leather set up tables outside their stores for shoppers to browse. Carrabba’s Italian Grill, the only one of its kind in an airport, offered tasty samples of menu favorites. As an added bonus, shoppers received a raffle ticket for every ten dollars spent and were entered into a drawing for valuable prizes provided by the merchants. The sidewalk sale was a great opportunity for airport customers to snatch up some super buys and check out all the unique shopping choices available only at Tampa International Airport.
