You’ve heard Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vinny LeCavalier and local and state lawmakers. Now, Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon is the guest announcer greeting travelers in the shuttles at Tampa International Airport.
Maddon’s voice can be heard on all airside shuttles arriving and departing from the main terminal.
Rays players are also featured on a shuttle car wrap at Airside A.
The guest announcer program is among several efforts to highlight the airport’s connections to the Tampa Bay community. In the past year, homegrown restaurants such as the Columbia Café, First Flight, Green Iguana and Cigar City Brewing opened in the airport, vendors added merchandise from local attractions and video walls in baggage claim now display images of popular tourist spots.
